More About The Show Itself
Things I Should’ve Said, a show about unspoken regrets.
Written, produced and directed by Katie Parsons
Less than one-month commitment
Roles: 8 to 10 performers, any gender
Things I Should’ve Said is a play about the things we meant to say, but didn’t. The show contains multiple storylines and characters, told through monologues and vignettes.
In most cases, roles are not gender or age specific.
All performers age 16+ are encouraged to audition. Performers under the age of 18 who are cast will require a signed parent waiver due to adult-level discussions that occur throughout the show.
Topics discussed in the show range from comedic and relatable, to grief-driven and emotional. Here are a few scenes or monologue summaries from the show:
— A person goes off about what they SHOULD have said to that rude stranger at the grocery store (to their spouse, upon returning home with the groceries)
— A hair stylist laments not speaking up and steering their client away from a bad haircut
— A person admitting they don’t understand a game they’ve played with their family for years, and how it is too late to speak up
— A young adult “speaks” unspoken truths to a parent they lost
— A person speaks to their spouse with Alzheimer’s about their favorite memories together
— “The other woman” or “other man” addresses that person’s spouse in a letter they’ll never send
